Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seniour vice-president Sher Afzal Khan Marwat claimed that party founder Imran Khan "is being denied basic medical needs as he is suffering from an eye infection and severe dental pain in Adiala jail, where the former prime minister is serving his imprisonment in different cases.

In a post on the microblogging site X, the PTI lawmaker also urged the party leaders to "bring the public out on the streets on March 10 (Sunday) to protest against Mr Khan's detention and the imprisonment of all political prisoners".

"Our demand is to release all of them - and to return the public mandate to those whom they voted for! Pakistanis, do not desert Khan Sahab, or give up on him - you will plunge your entire next generations into darkness! Only Khan can save Pakistan! Only Khan!!" he said in a post.

Marwat also called on the nation to stand up against the alleged gross violation in Pakistan.

"You will never be stronger than today because Murshid Khan will not be born in [the] next 400 years! You must understand your strength and it is simply your large number and courage, if you all come out together,  no one can hurt you or stop you from achieving anything!"

A day earlier, PTI submitted the resolution in the National Assembly, seeking the release of Imran Khan, other political leaders and workers, and seniour journalists Imran Riaz Khan and Asad Toor.

In the resolution, the former ruling party demanded to quash all unlawful cases against the leader of the "Muslim Ummah" immediately.

It also demanded the release of other PTI leaders and workers, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pervazi Elahi, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Omar Sarfaraz Cheema, Ejaz Chaudhry, Mahmood-ul-Rasheed, Sanam Javaid and others.

The motion added that the cases against the former prime minister were politically motivated and that had no lawful background.
