Mayor Karachi orders removal of charity food distribution points under bridges

With the goal of restoring appropriate use of public space in the port city, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab directed authorities to remove wall chalking from bridges and eliminate food points established under the bridges by NGOs.
His instrcution during a meeting of the Karachi Beautification Task Force, held at the office of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).
Karachi’s administrative head, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, chaired the meeting, which was attended by Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi, DIG-Traffic Peer Muhammad Shah, the Managing Director of the Solid and West Management Board, Deputy Commissioners from various districts, and heads of various municipal organisations.
During the meeting, Mayor Karachi directed that food distribution points set up by charity organisations under the flyovers and bridges in multiple areas should be shut down.

Barrister Wahab ordered authorities to take action against those responsible for marking public places, and they should be prosecuted according to law.
He emphasised the plan of preserving 16 historic buildings on Abdullah Haroon Road, while a separate proposal aims to digitise signage for institutions on II Chundrigar Road.
The mayor has asked for the outer wall of Society Graveyard to be built in a way that looks visually appealing and makes the area more attractive.
He also highlighted the importance of making parking better for wedding halls on Sharah-e-Faisal and suggested that the side roads along that street be improved as well.
Additionally, for environmental protection the Mayor directed replacing Conocarpus trees with native trees of Karachi.
