Following the tragic death of a young boy who fell into an open manhole in Shah Faisal Colony, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has activated the 1334 helpline to address the issue of open manholes across the city.
In a video message, the mayor said that protecting the lives of citizens is the top priority.
Mayor Wahab urged residents to report any missing manhole covers immediately by calling the 1334 helpline. He assured that Karachi Water Corporation (KWC) would respond promptly to resolve the issue.
The mayor also highlighted that last year, 71,000 manhole covers were installed across various areas of the city, and additional covers will be made available as needed.
He further stated that citizens no longer need to wait, as the helpline is now operational for swift action.
The initiative aims to improve safety and prevent further accidents related to open manholes in Karachi.
