Natasha Danish, the prime suspect involved in the killing of two in a car accident on Karsaz road in the metropolis, could face up to 18 years in prison after the addition of section 322 in the FIR, sources said on Saturday.

The accident, which occurred on August 19, resulted in the tragic deaths of two persons, Amna Arif and her father Imran Arif, and left four others injured.

According to investigative sources, no progress has been made in the investigation of the deadly car accident, while the medical report of the accused is also delayed.

The sources revealed that the medical report may take another 2 to 3 days as the samples received from the accused have been sent to two different laboratories.

It has been decided to send the woman's samples to a laboratory in Lahore as well, sources added.

The investigative sources have further informed that the details regarding the route of the vehicle of the accused have been obtained.

The female car driver had left her house in KDA Scheme 1 for her mother-in-law's house.

However, during the investigation, the woman is constantly changing her statement, the informers mentioned.

As per the details provided by the sources, the investigation team will also confirm the claims made by the suspect's family that the influential woman has a British driving license and foreign citizenship.

The investigative sources also said that the case was weakened by adding section 320, which is a bailable offense, in the case.

However, section 322 was added in the FIR due to which Natasha may face imprisonment of 10 to 18 years if convicted.

Investigative sources further revealed that the vehicle used by the woman was registered in the name of a private company, named Gul Ahmed Energy Limited.

More CCTV videos are being obtained to aid in the investigation, the informers added.

On the other hand, IG Sindh Gulan Nabi Memon has decided to form a special team for investigation, led by an SSP rank officer. The case will be treated as a "high-profile case".

According to Memon, the special team will ensure a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrator to justice.

In the accident, Amna Arif, along with her father, lost her life when a speeding car driven by the suspect, allegedly a member of the prominent Gul Ahmed family, lost control and rammed into four motorcycles and two cars on Karsaz Road on August 19.

Four others were injured in the accident, out of which one was critically injured.

Abdus Salam, one of the four victims injured, was put on a ventilator after his condition deteriorated due to his injuries, according to family sources.

Following the incident, several Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage emerged in which the suspect was seen committing the crime.

The suspect was arrested by the police from the crime scene and was sent to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for a medial checkup.

According to sources, the woman was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

The suspect’s lawyer, Amir Mansoob, said his client was a psychiatric patient and had been under treatment for her condition for five years.

Natasha's counsel told the media that his client had no memory of the incident and was "not in the right frame of mind".

In response, the reporters asked why the family allowed the suspect to drive a car in such "a severe mental condition".

The lawyer claimed the family was unaware that Natasha had taken the car, as "they had imposed restrictions on her due to her mental condition".

However, she was declared mentally fit by the psychiatrist of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC).

Later, the City Court in the port city sent Natasha to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

Imtiaz Arif, uncle of Amna Arif, vowed to fight for justice and punishment for the suspect.

"I want to make it clear through the media... We are not looking for any sort of compensation. I am looking for the punishment. I am looking for justice. I am looking for final decision similar to what we will be getting on the day of judgement," he said while talking to media outside court.
