The 76th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, is being observed today (Wednesday) across the country with solemnity and reverence.

Muhammad Ali Jinnah passed away on 11th September 1948, just 11 months after achieving an independent state for the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent.

A special ceremony of Quran Khawani and Fateha was held at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam in Karachi.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Governor Kamran Tessori attended the special prayers at Mr Jinnah's shrine.

Top political leadership and people from different walks of life will visit the mausoleum to offer Fateha and to lay the floral wreath on his grave.

Educational institutions, political and social organisations will organise functions to shed light on the personality and leadership of the Quaid.

Jinnah was born on Dec 25, 1876, and served as leader of the All India Muslim League from 1913 until Pakistan’s creation on Aug 14, 1947.

He then served as the first governor-general of Pakistan till his death on Sept 11, 1948.
