Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had a brief stumble while reciting a verse by legendary poet Mirza Ghalib while addressing journalists in London.
Nawaz Sharif, who often incorporates poetry into his political speeches to express his views or subtly taunt political opponents, attempted to recite a Ghalib verse during his conversation with reporters.
However, he momentarily forgot the second line of the verse. After a subtle prompt from someone nearby, he successfully completed the full verse.
Sharif, accompanied by his daughter Maryam Nawaz, traveled to London and Switzerland, with plans to return by the end of this week.
During their time in London, the Sharif family faced heckling from PTI supporters, who shouted slogans and called out their names.
The 74-year-old politician criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for organising protests abroad against political opponents, stating that the party seems destined to continue staging protests.
“They [PTI] encouraged misbehavior during their time in power and continue to promote it in opposition. They did the same before coming into government,” Sharif remarked.
He also held former Prime Minister Imran Khan accountable for promoting anti-democratic actions, which he believes have contributed to political instability in Pakistan.
