New gas and oil deposits discovered in Sindh

Pakistan’s energy sector is likely to receive a boost as new oil and gas reserves have been discovered in Sindh by the exploration company Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL).

During the exploration of the Mari Ghazij well, approximately 305 barrels of oil and 3 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) were unearthed. The exploration was carried out at a 48/64-inch choke size and 225 psi pressure.

This is the second successful oil-producing well in Sindh, where Mari Petroleum holds full operational rights under the Mari D&P Lease.

Managing Director Faheem Haider hailed the discovery as a major achievement for the company’s geoscience team and field experts, stating that the firm aims to enhance Pakistan’s energy output through continued hydrocarbon exploration.

Mari Petroleum is a joint exploration and production company and the largest gas producer in Pakistan, holding around 30% market share. Haider further shared that the company operates the largest gas reserve in Daharki, Sindh.
