The newly elected members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly were sworn in on Wednesday amidst chaos during the legislature's inaugural session.
Speaker of the KP Assembly, Mushtaq Ghani, chaired the session, which was convened at 11:00am and started around 12:45pm.
The inaugural session of the KP Assembly commenced with prayers for the deceased and martyrs. Afterward, the Speaker administered the oath to 115 newly elected members.
Tensions escalated on the KP Assembly floor before the session began. PML-N leader Sobia Shahid entered the hall and teased PTI members by waving a watch to the audience.
Following this, empty bottles, shoes, pens, and water jugs were hurled at PML-N MPA.
PTI's nominee for Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur also attended the assembly session. He is poised to assume the office given PTI's decisive victory in the province.
More than 1,000 passes were issued for the assembly session, exceeding the assembly's capacity and leading to disorder before the session began. Individuals, without passes, also rushed into the hall.
The police closed the assembly gates after the disorder, but later, workers entered the premises by jumping from outside routes.
