The Islamabad High Court (IHC) is unlikely to hear former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s appeal against his conviction in the £190 million corruption case during 2025, according to a statement from the court’s Registrar Office.

In a report submitted to the IHC, the Registrar Office stated that appeals are scheduled strictly according to their numerical order.

Imran Khan, founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), filed his appeal against a 14-year sentence on January 31, 2025. The case remains at the motion stage and will only proceed once necessary documentation, including paper books, is completed.

The Registrar Office clarified that under the directives of the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee, priority is being given to older pending cases, and no special scheduling would be made.

The report revealed that 279 criminal appeals from convicted individuals are currently pending before the IHC, including 63 death penalty and 73 life imprisonment cases.

The oldest pending appeal against a death sentence dates back to 2017.
