Former prime minister Imran Khan urged political unity in the face of growing tensions with India, calling on all factions to put their differences aside. He criticised India’s far-right ideology, which he said is fueling war hysteria and destabilising the region, especially as New Delhi rushed to blame Pakistan for the Pahalgam incident without a proper investigation.
A message posted on Khan’s official X account conveyed his stance from Adiala Jail, where the PTI founder remains incarcerated.
He expressed his “deepest condolences” to the victims of the Pahalgam attack, in which 26 tourists were killed by gunmen on April 21.
Khan compared the current incident to the 2019 Pulwama attack, declaring it another “false flag” operation. India has failed to produce any credible evidence that could glaringly disclose any link with Pakistan, he added.

“Being a country of 1.5 billion people, India needs to act responsibly instead of messing with a region already known as ‘nuclear flashpoint.’ Peace is our priority but it should not be mistaken as cowardice. Pakistan has got all the capabilities to give a befitting response to any Indian misadventure, as my government, backed by whole nation, did in 2019,” Khan said.
He stressed the importance of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination “as guaranteed by United Nations resolutions.”
Criticising the rise of far-right ideology in India, Khan said, “I have also been highlighting the fact that India led by RSS ideology is a grave threat, not only to the region but beyond it.”

He further noted that since the abrogation of Article 370, Indian authorities have only intensified their oppressive measures in occupied Kashmir.
While criticising the PML-N government and calling it a “fake regime,” Khan underscored the need for unity against external threats. “While we reject this fake regime, we stand firmly as one Pakistani nation and strongly condemn Modi's war-mongering and his dangerous ambitions that threaten regional peace,” he said.
He reiterated that his party continues to face political victimisation, which, he warned, could deepen internal divisions at a time when national unity is crucial to “confront external threats.”
Taking a swipe at his political opponents, Khan accused former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari of failing to take a firm stance against India due to their personal interests abroad.
“It is naive to expect any strong stance from self-serving figures like Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari. They will never speak out against India because their illegal wealth and business interests lie abroad. They profit from foreign investments, and to protect those financial interests, they remain silent in the face of foreign aggression and baseless allegations against Pakistan. Their fear is simple: that Indian lobbies might freeze their offshore assets if they dare to speak the truth,” Khan stated.
