The United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) has approved $20 million for youth projects, including education, skills development, and employment, in Pakistan.
The duo entered into a deal after signing the letter of intent (LOI) during a high-level meeting attended by the top representatives of Pakistan and Unicef.
Unicef would implement various programmes under its Generation Unlimited (GenU) plan.
GenU is a global partnership venture aiming to skill the youth, as it deals with secondary-age education, training for employment, and entrepreneurship to empower everyone to work.
Addressing the ceremony after signing the LOI, Premier Shehbaz Sharif described the investment as a significant step toward unlocking the potential of our youth.
“We aim to create opportunities for youth to contribute to the progress of the nation,” he said.
“Through this ground-breaking collaboration, we look forward to bringing together a broad cohort of partners, to create opportunities, empower and pave the way for a brighter future for Pakistan’s youth,” Fadil told the signing ceremony," the Unicef representative in Pakistan Abdullah Fadil said.
