Pakistan’s passport has been ranked fourth-weakest in the Henley Passport Index 2025, ahead of only Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan, according to the latest global rankings released on Tuesday.

Singapore retained the top position, offering its citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 193 destinations out of 227.

The index, based on data of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), measures the mobility of passports by the number of destinations accessible without a prior visa.

Japan and South Korea ranked second with 190 visa-free destinations, followed by seven EU countries, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain, sharing third place, each granting access to 189 destinations.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) placed 8th with access to 184 destinations, making it the highest-ranked country in the Middle East. The UAE has seen a sharp rise over the last decade, climbing 34 positions since 2014.

The United Kingdom and the United States dropped one position each. The UK, once ranked first in 2015, now stands at 6th with 186 visa-free destinations, while the US, previously in first place in 2014, has declined to 10th, offering access to 182 destinations.

India recorded the most significant improvement over the past six months, moving from 85th to 77th. Saudi Arabia gained four additional destinations, bringing its total to 91 and raising its ranking to 54th.
