United Kingdom’s Chief of General Staff General Sir Patrick Nicholas Yardley Monrad Sanders on Friday heaped praise on the Pakistan Army and its leader, General Syed Asim Munir, for "professionalism and versatility".

The remarks from the top British armyman came during a luncheon hosted at the Army and Navy Club in London.

The event was organised in honour of 50 seniour British military men of the Quetta Association, who studied and served in Pakistan Army's Command and Staff College in the last five decades.

Several high-rank British military officials, including Lieutenant General Sir Alistar Irwin (1980 graduate), Lieutenant General Anthony Palmer (1981 graduate), Brigadier Nick Thompson (1971 graduate), Brigadier Tony Berry (1970 graduate) and Major General Seumas Kerr (1985 graduate), attended the event.

"There is no comparison to the Pakistan Army's professional fitness and expertise," the Pakistan High Commission in London said quoting Gen Sander.

“Pakistan army is battle-hardened and known for its ability to defend the country as well as providing vital help to the partner countries,” it added.

Pakistan High Commission’s Army and Air Adviser Colonel Taimur Rahat said that the college has been training and grooming the officers from 1905.

The spouse of the Pakistani high commissioner presented token of appreciation to General Sir Patrick Sanders and other notables during the event.
