Pakistan has extended restrictions on Indian-registered aircraft using its airspace for an additional month, according to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Tuesday.
Under the latest NOTAM, the ban will remain in effect from January 25, 2026, until February 24, 2026, up to 5:00am Pakistan Standard Time. The restriction applies to all aircraft owned, operated or leased by Indian entities, including military flights.
The PAA said the extension continues a restriction that has been in place for the past nine months.
Pakistan initially closed its airspace to Indian airlines following heightened bilateral tensions after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). In response, India shut its airspace to Pakistani airlines on April 30.
The restriction was previously extended on May 23. Tensions between the two countries escalated further in early May, when India carried out strikes on multiple locations inside Pakistan. Pakistan later announced retaliatory military action under what it termed Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.
A ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed neighbours was announced on May 10, reportedly with diplomatic facilitation by the United States.
