The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) has facilitated the repatriation of eight Iranian nationals who were rescued at sea by a British vessel after their boat ran aground.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the PMSA said it led efforts for the reception, documentation, medical screening and onward repatriation of the rescued individuals.
The agency said the operation was carried out in coordination with the Foreign Office, Pakistan Navy, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Iranian Consulate General and other relevant stakeholders.
“The operation was conducted in close coordination with national and international stakeholders, reflecting Pakistan’s commitment towards humanitarian assistance, safety of life at sea and regional maritime cooperation,” the PMSA said.
The Iranian nationals were rescued by the British vessel MMA Valour after their boat ran aground, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The PMSA said it remained committed to safeguarding human life at sea and providing timely assistance during maritime emergencies.
