Senior officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs declined to confirm the finalisation of talks in Islamabad on Friday, with sources indicating that all matters remain under consideration and nothing has been finalised.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ismail Baghaei, commended Pakistan’s efforts towards securing a ceasefire.
He stated that Iran appreciates Pakistan’s initiatives aimed at achieving a ceasefire and is taking necessary measures to safeguard its national interests and security.
A day earlier, the New York Post claimed that US President Donald Trump has hinted that a second round of talks between the United States (US) and Iran may take place as early as Friday, signaling a potential diplomatic breakthrough.
According to the report, some indications renewed peace negotiations could occur within the next 36 to 72 hours amid ongoing mediation efforts.
