The Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency successfully rescued nine Indian seamen whose tugboat had become stranded at sea.
The vessel, registered in St Kitts & Nevis, was immobilized 167 nautical miles southeast of Karachi. The Navy's Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Center (JMICC) received a distress signal on February 4, prompting a swift response.
A Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft was deployed to locate the stranded tugboat, followed by a Search and Rescue operation carried out by the Pakistan Maritime Security Ship Kashmir. The latter was on routine Maritime Security Operations in the area.
Upon reaching the distressed tugboat, PMSS Kashmir secured it alongside, and after three hours of intensive repair efforts, the electrical issue was resolved. The tugboat had lost power before the rescue operation.
The navy mentioned that the crew received fresh water and cooked meals, and the vessel was able to resume its journey toward Sharjah following the successful rescue and repair efforts.
