Pakistani female police officer, SSP Riffat Bukhari, made the country proud after she received the 'Excellence in Performance' award in the US.

She was honoured by the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) at their 61st annual conference in Chicago on Sunday.

The prestigious award recognises SSP Bukhari's exceptional service to her community, such as "capturing suspects by using artificial intelligence, women's protection, intelligent traffic management systems, and preparation of safety mechanisms".

SSP Bukhari, currently serving in the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, is the first Pakistani female officer to receive this global award.

The IAWP President, Deborah Friedl, presented the award to the police high official, acknowledging her outstanding contributions to policing.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar and MD Safe Cities Authority Ahsan Younis hailed the success of SSP Bukhari as a source of pride for all police officers, especially women officers.

Earlier in 2023, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sonia Shamroz Khan achieved international recognition for her services after receiving the 'Officer of the Year' award from IAWP in Auckland, New Zealand.
