A Pakistani pilgrim's honesty has made him a hero as he returned a bag full of cash and valuables to the country's Hajj mission in Saudi Arabia, according to APP.

Amir Hameed, who hails from Sialkot, is currently in Saudi Arabia to perform the sacred pilgrimage.

A few days ago, he found a bag containing SAR9,000, an iPhone, important cards and documents while travelling on a bus in Makkah.

“I spotted an unattended small handbag resting on a seat of one of the buses, part of the fleet dedicated to ferrying pilgrims between the Haram Sharif and the hotels housing the Hujjaj. Respecting the sanctity of the belongings, I refrained from opening it and promptly alerted the support staff stationed in the transport section,” APP reported Hameed as saying.

The transport staff traced the rightful owner of the bag by using the QR codes embedded on the special identity cards issued to all Hujjaj.

While talking to APP, Chief Transport Officer at the Pakistan Hajj Mission Muhammad Ajmal said that the owner was surprised to receive a call from the department even before filing a complaint with the Lost and Found Cell.

The bag was then returned to its rightful owners, who thanked the Pakistani pilgrim and the mission for their honesty and integrity.
