Pakistani students made the country proud by securing the third position and winning the bronze medal at the international space science competition.

The event, International Space Science and Scientific Payload Competition, was co-sponsored by Chinese Society of Astronautics, Beijing Institute of Technology, International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The Pakistani team impressed the judges with their innovative design of a smart radiation shield to protect astronauts, which earned them a spot in the finals and ultimately, the third position.

The team from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) consisted of eight talented students, including Amina Rehman, Fiza Majeed, Saleha Abid, Hania Irfan, Sharjeel Salik, Moeez Ansari, Abdul Wajid and Qayub Kaleem.

The competition saw participation from over 1,000 students from 80 universities across 50 countries, with teams from 10 countries making it to the finals.

The competition aims to make full and effective use of limited space resources, promoting major scientific discoveries and innovative technological breakthroughs in the aerospace field.
