An anti-encroachment operation at Lea Market in Karachi came under attack when miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the team led by Assistant Commissioner Hazim Bangwar.

The operation, headed by the Assistant Commissioner of Aram Bagh, was underway against illegal encroachments at Lea Market when unidentified individuals launched the attack.

Fortunately, Hazim Bangwar and all members of his team remained unharmed.

According to the Assistant Commissioner, the district administration had been conducting action against longstanding illegal encroachments and an alleged mafia operating in Lea Market and Aram Bagh.

During the crackdown, attackers armed with petrol bombs suddenly emerged from nearby streets in an apparent attempt to obstruct the operation and spread panic.

Hazim Bangwar stated that the administration would not be intimidated by such tactics and that the operation against illegal encroachments would continue without interruption.

He further pledged that Lea Market would be completely cleared and rid of all forms of mafia influence.

He expressed gratitude that no casualties or injuries occurred despite the attack.

As a result of the petrol bomb, a shop caught fire; however, the blaze was swiftly brought under control. Upon receiving information about the incident, a heavy police contingent led by the SSP City arrived at the scene.

Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the attack. The SSP City confirmed that strict legal action will be taken against those involved.
