The Sindh government has imposed a ban on pillion riding across the province on account of Hazrat Imam Hussain's (RA) chehlum.
According to a notification issued by the provincial home department, the measure has been taken to prevent "attacks by miscreants" on religious processions by "various means".
In line with the above-mentioned risks, the government has restricted pillion riding in different districts and zones of Sindh, including Karachi.
The ban will be enforced in the South district of Karachi from August 25-27, in East on August 26 and in the West from August 25-26.
The ban will also be imposed in the districts of Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Larkana.
The ban has been placed under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
The prohibition, however, will not apply to journalists, persons with disabilities, the elderly, women, personnel of security institutions, and children, the notification read.
Moreover, the provincial government has also imposed a ban on the use of drones during Chehlum processions citing security reasons.
The mourners will observe the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) on Monday across the province with religious zeal and reverence.
