Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a reduction of Rs80 per litre in the price of petrol, bringing the new rate down to Rs378 per litre.

Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister stated that rising global oil prices have created significant challenges for the public, adding that the government is making efforts to provide relief despite limited resources.

He noted that the decision was taken after extensive consultations at the national level, attended by the President, all four Chief Ministers and other senior officials.

According to the Prime Minister, the government has also introduced a relief package for the transport and agriculture sectors.

Financial support will be provided to truck operators, public transport and farmers, while fares for economy-class railway travel will remain unchanged.
