Three police officers were removed from their posts for stopping the son of an influential man at a checkpost in Lahore, sources said on Thursday.

According to police sources, the incident occurred at the Colonel Arif Shaheed Interchange on September 21, where the road was blocked due to a rally organised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the release of party founder Imran Khan.

The son of the influential person attempted to pass through the blocked road by removing containers, but was stopped by the police officers, sources added.

The removed officers include SSP VVIP Security Khalid Mahmood Afzal, who has been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD), DSP Investigation Kahna Raja Fakhar Bashir, and SHO Muslim Town Nadeem Kamboh.

The affected police officers claimed they did not give permission to the boy in line with the written direction issued by the provincial government.

On the other hand, a Punjab police spokesperson informed that the three officers were found guilty of misbehaving with the citizen during an inquiry conducted by a DIG-ranked officer.

However, the influential person's identity was not disclosed by the police spokesman and sources.
