An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Wednesday granted bail to Shahrez Khan, nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, in the Jinnah House attack case.
Shahrez, the son of Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, was arrested by Lahore police from his mother’s residence on August 21. His brother, Shershah Khan, was detained a day later in a similar case and has been remanded to jail after physical remand.
ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul announced the reserved verdict, approving the bail plea of Aleema Khan’s son and ordering his release.
Earlier, during the hearing, Shahrez Khan’s counsel argued that the accused was not present in Lahore on May 9, claiming he was in Chitral with friends at the time.
The defence submitted sworn affidavits from Shahrez Khan’s friends as supporting evidence.

The lawyer further contended that Shahrez Khan had been implicated only because he is the PTI founder’s nephew, and urged the court to discharge him from the case.
Police had booked Shahrez Khan in connection with the Jinnah House attack under terrorism charges, registered at Sarwar Road Police Station.
