Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior vice-president Karachi Chapter Faheem Khan was arrested in Saudi Arabia for attempting to use the Holy places for political interests, confirmed party lawyer Naeem Haider Panjutha on Thursday.

Former PTI lawmaker was detained for recording a political video in front of the Holy Kaaba, a sacred site in Islam.

In the video, shared on his microblogging account X, Khan sought to counter "false propaganda" against PTI Founder Imran Khan.

"I'm here at the Kaaba, and I want to say that Imran Khan never told us to attack any installations or speak against the army. He always said this country and army belong to us," Faheem was seen saying in the video.

PTI leader, in the video, also denied Mr Khan's involvement in the May 9 riots, challenging those responsible to take an oath in front of the Holy Kaaba.

"When Imran Khan asks for CCTV footage, I also demand it. Whoever stole the footage is involved. I know many political people and institutions are involved, but my leader Imran Khan is true, and he talks about Pakistan."

"We will pray here, and Imran Khan will be released soon. He will become the prime minister [again], and Pakistan will develop," Faheem concluded his video.

As the video went viral on social media, the authorities in the Kingdom took the PTI leader into custody.
