A video has gone viral on social media showing a heated exchange between a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate from NA-27, Iqbal Afridi, and a mosque's prayer leader in Hayatabad.
The disagreement developed when the latter started criticising former prime minister Imran Khan during a Friday sermon which led Afridi to lose his temper.
While expressing displeasure, the PTI-backed candidate exchanged some harsh words with the prayer leader.
The PTI candidate further urged the prayer leader to focus on religious matters instead of using the pulpit for political criticism.
Afridi's attempt to intervene in the sermon resulted in a scene at the mosque, prompting other worshippers to step in and expel him for referring to the prayer leader as a "hypocrite."
However, in a related social media post, it was claimed that Afridi himself had addressed an election-related gathering in a mosque in his native area recently.
