LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to ink a bilateral agreement with India to tackle smog and enhance the air quality index.

Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb directed an examination of factories responsible for air pollution during a meeting where the digitization of the brick kiln industrial system was discussed to improve the air quality index.

During the meeting, Punjab's Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb highlighted the concern of Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif regarding the implementation of practical measures to combat smog at the grassroots level.

A three-month deadline has been established for the installation and monitoring of emission controllers in industrial zones across divisions.

Marriyum Aurangzeb stressed that ensuring a high quality of life is the right of every individual, and strict measures should be taken against those contributing to air pollution.

In line with the environmentally conscious approach of the chief minister, directives have been issued to adopt mechanized crop harvesting techniques instead of burning crops to prevent air pollution.

The senior minister also mentioned the forthcoming introduction of a new mobile app designed to promote awareness about anti-smog initiatives
