At least eight people, including three children, were injured in an explosion in Quetta on Wednesday.

According to the police, the blast occurred in a garbage dump under a flyover on Zarghoon Road.

Eight people were injured in the blast, they said, adding that three child scavengers were among  them.

A traffic policeman performing duty nearby was also injured in the blast.

On getting information, rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.

The police suggested that the explosion might have been caused by a locally made explosive device. Further investigation is underway.

Pakistan has been witnessing a surge in terror attacks in the past one year. August 2023, particularly, remained the deadly month with 99 attacks claiming 112 lives.
