Rawalpindi police book PTI top brass in first case of Nov 24 protest

A case has been registered against PTI founder Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, sister Aleema Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, along with several PTI leaders under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
An FIR was registered at Taxila police station, implicating PTI’s top leadership in charges of terrorism.
Former President Arif Alvi, Shehryar Riaz, Hammad Azhar, Asad Qaiser and Opposition Leader Omar Ayub have also been named in the case.
The first information report stated that demonstrators damaged police officials’ motorcycles and vehicles, kidnapped police drivers and tortured them.
The FIR also accused Imran Khan of planning the march to Islamabad.
Despite the imposition of section 144 across Punjab, the authorities could not prevent PTI workers from stepping up to Islamabad, subsequently, Taxila police registered the first case against the party’s top brass.
Media reports stated that leaders were booked due to violating Section 144 and interference with law enforcement. The suspects were accused of damaging public property and blocking roads by gathering the crowd.
However, PTI’s caravans across the country heading towards Islamabad on the call of Imran Khan. On November 24, the former premier directed workers and supporters from every part of the country to reach Islamabad against his incarceration and the 26th Amendment.
