Raza Dar named in another FIR over ‘hit-and-run’ charges

Raza Dar, an alleged relative of Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, has been named in another criminal case after Lahore police registered a fresh First Information Report (FIR) over allegations of a hit-and-run incident that allegedly caused significant damage to a citizen's vehicle.

The latest development comes as Dar continues to face legal scrutiny in a separate high-profile cryptocurrency extortion and kidnapping investigation.

According to the FIR lodged at Cantt Police Station, the complainant, Muhammad Usman, alleged that the incident occurred on 1 July at approximately 7:45 pm near Toyota Motors on Airport Road.

He stated that he was driving his Nissan Lux from Tufail Garden towards Bhatta Chowk when a vehicle allegedly associated with Raza Dar struck the rear of his car.

The complainant claimed that the collision caused extensive damage to the vehicle, including the boot, rear bumper, right tail light, spare wheel compartment and other rear body parts. He estimated the total cost of the damage at around Rs300,000.

Usman further alleged that the driver left the scene immediately after the collision without stopping to provide assistance or discuss compensation.

He requested police to initiate legal proceedings against those responsible and seek compensation for the losses incurred.

Following a preliminary inquiry, South Cantt Police registered a case under Section 279 of the Pakistan Penal Code, relating to rash and negligent driving, and Section 427, which pertains to causing damage to property. The investigation is currently underway.
