A case has been registered against controversial public speaker, Sahil Adeem, at the Karachi city court police station for using offensive language against the Sindhi people.

According to the complaint filed by a lawyer, Sahil Adeem's derogatory remarks have hurt the sentiments of the Sindhi community.

The case has been filed under charges of promoting "hatred and discord".

Sources close to the matter have revealed that if Sahil Adeem fails to cooperate with the authorities, he will get arrested.

The development came after an old video of the self-claimed cleric using derogatory language against the Sindhi community went viral on social media.

Earlier, the speaker landed in hot waters after he declared 95 percent women in the country "jahil" (illiterate).

The insensitive remarks from Sahil came during a private news channel's show Mukalma, in which writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was also invited as a guest to discuss women rights and human rights.

Later, a resolution was tabled in the Sindh Assembly on July 4, condemning Sahil Adeem's derogatory remarks about women.

The resolution was presented by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Marvi Faseeh.
