Just days ahead of the holy month of Ramazan, the brotherly country Saudi Arabia has gifted 100 tonnes of dates to Pakistan as a gesture of goodwill, the KSA embassy said on Tuesday.
In a post on the microblogging site X, the Saudi embassy in Pakistan informed about the development.
“In a gesture of goodwill, the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is delighted to offer 100 tons of dates to its esteemed brethren in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, following the recommendation of the esteemed leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud,” the Saudi embassy said in a statement.
The gift was handed over to the representative of Pakistan, Brig (retd) Ubaidullah Anwar, by Saudi Amabasaddor in Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki at an event in Islamabad.
The dates were given by the Saudi Crown Prince's organisation, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), the embassy said.
According to the KSA consulate, the "generous donation" was given to the brotherly country in line with the upcoming month of Holy Ramazan, which is expected to commence on March 12 in Pakistan.
“This generous donation is intended for distribution among the Pakistani community during the holy month of Ramadan,” the statement read.
“This noble gesture exemplifies the enduring bond of friendship and brotherhood between the two nations, reflecting the spirit of generosity and solidarity cherished by both Saudi Arabia and Pakistan,” it concluded.
