The Senate on Friday unanimously passed a unanimous resolution, refuting India's allegations that Pakistan was behind the gunmen attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK)'s Phalagam area.
The resolution was presented by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, stating that Pakistan is capable and ready to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country against any aggression, including water terrorism and military attacks.
Killing innocent civilians is against the values of the country, and it “rejects all frivolous and baseless attempts to link Pakistan with the Pahalgam attack,” the resolution stated.
The Senate condemned the Indian government’s malafide campaign to deteriorate the reputation of Pakistan by following the same strategy of “exploiting the issue of terrorism for a narrow political goal”.

Regarding the unilateral suspension of Indus Waters Treaty, the resolution said, “India’s unlawful and unilateral declaration to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance in blatant violation of the Treaty which clearly amounts to an act of war”.
The resolution reiterated Pakistan’s stance on Indian potential aggression, stating, “Pakistan remains fully capable and prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any aggression, including water terrorism or military provocation as clearly demonstrated by its robust and valiant response to India’s reckless actions in February 2019; and any misadventure by India will be met with a firm, swift and decisive response.”
“[The Senate] emphasises that the people of Pakistan remain committed to peace but will never allow anyone to transgress the country’s sovereignty, security, and interests.”
In conclusion, Pakistan expressed its unwavering moral and political support for the people in Indian-held Kashmir, “who were struggling for the realisation of their inalienable right to self-determination”.
