Shahzad Akbar, former Special Assistant to ex-prime minister Imran Khan on accountability, has been injured in an attack by an unidentified individual in the United Kingdom.

In a statement, Shahzad Akbar said that an image circulating on social media showing his injured face is fake and has been generated using artificial intelligence.

He said the attack resulted in a fractured nasal bone and facial injuries.

According to him, police are actively searching for the attacker and have assured him that both the assailant and anyone who facilitated the attack will be brought to justice.

In a social media statement, Shahzad Akbar said the attacker appeared to be a construction worker or a refuse collector, and assaulted him after confirming his identity. He said such cowardly acts would not intimidate him and had instead strengthened his resolve.

He added that due to the ongoing police investigation, he cannot share CCTV footage or images related to the incident.

Expressing full confidence in British law, he appealed to the authorities to ensure that England remains safe for everyone, including those who disagree with him.

Shahzad Akbar said he would continue to speak out against corruption, human rights violations and anti-democratic practices in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Moonis Elahi expressed concern over the attack, describing it as troubling and wishing Shahzad Akbar a speedy recovery. He said he hoped British police would take decisive action against those responsible.

It is worth noting that Shahzad Akbar was also injured in a suspected acid attack in London in 2023.
