The six-party opposition alliance, led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), launched its protest movement today against the alleged rigging in the Feb 8 polls with a rally in Baloshitan's Pishin.
During the rally, an unusual incident happened when the PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat came on the stage to deliver his speech.
Seeing the outspoken PTI leader on the stage, the charged crowd started chanting "diesel diesel" slogans, which the former ruling party use in its speeches to ridicule JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
But, Imran Khan's lawyer stopped the PTI workers and supporters from shouting the anti-Fazlur Rehman slogan, saying "Talks are underway with him."
Once staunch rivals are now on the same page against the alleged rigging in the February 8 elections.
Earlier, the politico-religious party had also announced to stay away from joining any coalition whose supremo headed the former ruling coalition — Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), a multi-party alliance — which ousted former prime minister Imran Khan via a parliamentary vote in 2022.
PTI had also approached JUI-F to strike an alliance against the PM Shehbaz-led government, which was rejected by Fazlur Rehman.
However, both parties are mulling to seek each other's help in protests against election rigging.
