Sindh's Information and Transport Minister, Sharjeel Memon, revealed ambitious plans for a bullet train project linking Karachi to Sukkur, aiming to improve transportation infrastructure in the province.
During a press conference in Karachi, Memon outlined the government's efforts to boost foreign investments and create job opportunities, particularly for the youth.
The proposed bullet train service will be launched in two phases, Memon confirmed, as part of a broader strategy to enhance connectivity within Sindh.
He also mentioned plans to establish a plant in Karachi to produce affordable buses, which would generate employment for the local population.
In addition to transportation improvements, Memon spoke on the subject of foreign investment, noting that Sindh has attracted the highest level of foreign investment in Pakistan.
He highlighted a recent meeting between the Chief Minister of Sindh and foreign investors, with a focus on creating job opportunities and fostering economic growth.
The minister further shared that the medical sector is expected to see a significant $1 billion investment, with additional development in the Dhabeji Foreign Economic Zone, which will create approximately 50,000 new jobs.
Regarding political issues, Memon criticised the opposition, specifically the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, accusing its leadership of promoting foreign agendas. He condemned past actions of PTI's founder, referencing calls for civil disobedience and the damage to national assets such as PTV and Radio Pakistan.
In response to rumors about threats to the life of PTI's founder, Memon stated he had no information but suggested that Faisal Vawda, a former minister based in Islamabad, might have more details on the matter.
Memon concluded by reiterating the Sindh government's commitment to working for the welfare of the people and creating a conducive environment for investment and job creation.
