The Sindh cabinet on Tuesday approved the allotment of 20% grace marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for first-year intermediate students of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK).

The decision follows a report by a sub-committee formed to investigate controversial examination results.

Initially, a parliamentary panel had recommended 15% grace marks in Math and Physics and 20% in Chemistry.

However, the cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, opted to grant 20% grace marks across all three subjects.

The chief minister also called for reforms in BIEK and instructed the chief secretary to investigate irregularities in all provincial education boards.

In a separate decision, the cabinet imposed a complete ban on the manufacture, sale, and use of plastic bags throughout Sindh.

The move includes amendments to the Sindh Prohibition of Non-degradable Plastic Products Rules 2024, targeting shopping and carrier bags.
