The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on February 5 on account of the Kashmir Day, according to an official notification.
The notification stated that in order to express solidarity with Kashmir against Indian occupation, all government and semi-government offices would remain closed on Wednesday, February 5.
To signify political and moral support in the struggle for self-determination and to honour the martyrs, a one-minute silence will be observed at about 8:00 am on February 5, the notification stated.
It is Pakistan’s commitment to support Kashmiris during their ongoing struggle for self-determination, which was enshrined in the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

Last week on Friday, the federal government also announced February 5 as a national holiday, with the cabinet division announcing to observe a one-minute silence at 10 am on the day.
The holiday across the country is meant to convey a message of solidarity and support with the people of Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The Kashmir issue remains a point of contention between two neighbourly nations, Pakistan and India, with Islamabad constantly urging the world’s interference to resolve the issue of disputed territory.

The dispute persisted for decades and regained global attention after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unilateral decision to revoke Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that granted special status to the territory.
However, Pakistan made it clear that relations with its nuclear-armed neighbour won't return to normal until the special status of Kashmir is reinstated.
