Sindh to launch Independence Day Train Safari to promote unity, culture

The Sindh government has announced a special ‘Azaadi Train’ to mark Independence Day, which will travel from Karachi to Zero Point Tharparkar as part of a cultural celebration showcasing national pride.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Culture and Tourism, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, where MD Tourism Fayyaz Shah briefed attendees about the initiative.
Branded as the Thar Desert Train Safari, the special Azaadi Train will depart from Karachi Cantt Station on August 13 and return to Karachi by the evening of August 14.
Its route will cover Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and finally reach Zero Point Tharparkar.
Speaking about the initiative, Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah said, “The Azaadi Train is a tribute to the spirit of Independence. It’s a celebration of our cultural heritage and national unity.”

At each station, passengers will distribute national flags among the public. On the evening of August 13, the train will reach Chhor Cantt in Umerkot, where a special musical event has been scheduled at Parchi Ji Veri.
The next morning, on August 14, the train will arrive at Khokhrapar Marvi Station, where a flag hoisting ceremony and cake-cutting event will take place before the train begins its return journey to Karachi.
“The entire nation is celebrating not only Independence Day but also the historic success of the struggle for truth,” the minister stated, adding that civil society members, celebrities, and political figures will also be on board the train.
