Sindh revises school timings

The Sindh School Education Department has issued a new circular introducing revised working hours for government schools across the province. 

The updated schedule came into immediate effect on 6 August 2026, with all institutions directed to follow the new timings until further notice.

According to the circular, separate working hours have been introduced for single- and double-shift schools, covering primary, elementary, secondary and higher secondary institutions. 

The department instructed all education officials and school heads to ensure strict implementation of the revised timetable.

For single-shift primary schools, classes will run from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm from Monday to Thursday between 6 August and 31 October. 

On Fridays, these schools will remain open from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. From 1 November to 31 March, single-shift primary schools will operate from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.

The circular also sets separate timings for double-shift primary schools by specifying operating hours for both the first and second shifts. 

For double-shift elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools, the first shift will operate from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm between 6 August and 31 October. From 1 November to 31 March, the first shift will run from 8:00 am to 1:45 pm.

In addition, revised schedules have been introduced for single-shift elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools. 

The Sindh School Education Department said the new working hours will remain in force until further orders and directed all relevant authorities to implement the circular without delay.
