All government and private schools in Sindh province including Karachi would remain open tomorrow as per the normal schedule, the Sindh Education Department said on Tuesday.

Rumours were doing rounds on the social media about closure of schools tomorrow amid heavy rain forecast by the PMD.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz had said the peak of this monsoon spell was yet to be seen as more than 150 millimeters rain was likely to batter the port city this week.

The department has directed the administration of all schools to maintain regular communication with the parents.

The Education Department has warned the people against paying attention to fake news and speculations regarding school closures or holidays.

“All schools, both government and private, will remain open, and the school administrations have been instructed to stay in touch with the parents,” the department spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, the PMD said low pressure in the form of a deep depression was present in Indian Gujarat and monsoon winds under the said weather system’s influence were affecting Sindh.

"The center of the system may reach the Arabian Sea on August 29,” it said.

Moreover, in its forecast, the meteorological department mentioned that heavy rain could last in Karachi till August 31.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Monday had alerted all local bodies, district administration, and the irrigation department to brace themselves for timely action in case of any emergency.
