The Sindh government has announced a public holiday across the province on Thursday, April 4, on account of the 45th death anniversary of Pakistan Peoples Party founder and former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

"The Government of Sindh has been pleased to declare 4th April, 2024 (Thursday) as Public Holiday on occasion of 45th Martyrdom anniversary of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Ex-Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan throughout the Province of Sindh [...]," the provincial government said in a notification.

 

According to a notification, all offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies as well as corporations and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government will remain closed, except for essential services.

Former premier Bhutto was executed on April 4, 1979 under the government of military dictator General Ziaul Haq following a coup.

The provincial authority also announced a public holiday on April 1 for Christian community on account of "Day After Easter.
