Two teenage boys were killed in a traffic accident in Karachi’s Korangi area, police said on Tuesday.
According to officials, the victims — identified as 13-year-old Ayan and 14-year-old Mudassir — were riding a motorcycle when a speeding coaster hit them. Both boys died on the spot.
Police said the accident occurred when the boys took the motorcycle out without informing their families. Relatives rushed to Jinnah Hospital upon receiving news of the incident.
Family members told reporters that both boys were students of a local seminary and were in the final stages of completing their Hifz-e-Quran (memorisation of the Holy Quran).
Mudassir was the youngest of three siblings, while Ayan was the third among five brothers and sisters, relatives added.
Eyewitnesses claimed the coaster was being driven at high speed when it struck the motorcycle. SSP Korangi Tariq Nawaz said the driver of the coaster did not possess a valid driving licence and confirmed that a case is being registered against him.
