SSP Riffat Bukhari to receive 'Excellence in Performance Award' in US

In recognition of her services in policing, the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) has nominated the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSSP) Punjab Riffat Bukhari for the 'Excellence in Performance Award'.
"Excellence in performance to be awarded to a female police officer who distinguishes herself by her exceptional policing skills that have a significant impact in her agency or area of responsibility," the global awards said in a statement.
"Such as the arrest of a prolific criminal, detection of multiples offences, improved road safety or improved Policing performance," it added.
SSP Bukhari has been working with the Safe City Authority of Punjab, a project of the provincial government to address criminal and inappropriate activities in the province.
She was selected for the award for her active efforts for society, such as "capturing suspects by using artificial intelligence, women's protection, intelligent traffic management systems, and preparation of safety mechanisms".
IAWP President Deborah Friedl has written a special letter to SSP Riffat Bukhari to congratulate and express her gratitude for being selected for the global award.
IG Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar said SSP Riffat Bukhari's outstanding achievement is a source of pride for all police officers, especially women officers.
The top policewoman will receive the award in the 61st annual conference of the International Association of Women Police in Chicago, USA, on September 1.
Earlier in 2023, KP AIG Sonia Shamroz Khan achieved international recognition for her services after receiving the 'Officer of the Year' award from IAWP in Auckland, New Zealand.
