Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, has said that those criticising the idea of a religious–military alliance should understand that “Allah has created this alliance naturally”.

Speaking at a press conference in Jhang, Ashrafi said Pakistan currently needs internal stability. He said the success of Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos would be recorded in history for centuries.

He said the world has often witnessed missiles falling on Islamic countries, but for the first time it saw Pakistani missiles striking India.

Referring again to the debate on a religious–military alliance, Ashrafi said that such an alliance was formed by Allah in a natural way.

The chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council claimed that Afghan nationals were involved in 70 per cent of terrorist attacks, adding that the Pakistan Army and the nation together would eliminate terrorism.

He said that if Pakistan could defeat a country six times its size, it could also defeat terrorism.

Ashrafi also said that the Prime Minister had invited PTI for dialogue and that the offer should be accepted.

He added that Maulana Fazlur Rehman had been an ally of the PML-N in the past and would remain an ally in the future.
