Police have added terrorism charges to the case involving the shooting of an FBR inspector, who was injured after being fired upon by Agha Shaheer, the son of a former SP, officials said.
According to police, three facilitators who allegedly helped the suspect escape have also been arrested. Authorities said that the decision to invoke terrorism provisions was made after investigations revealed that firearms were used openly and indiscriminately in a public place during what began as a minor dispute.
During operations to arrest the main suspect, police apprehended a man identified as Mazhar Ali in Karachi, who is accused of assisting Agha Shaheer in fleeing to Shikarpur.
In a separate development, two more suspects — Agha Tahir Khan and Agha Musaddiq Khan — were taken into custody from Shikarpur. Police said the two had helped hide Agha Shaher’s vehicle.p
Officials added that the suspects arrested in Shikarpur are being shifted to Karachi for further legal proceedings, while efforts to arrest the main accused are ongoing.
