US woman converts to Islam, marries online lover in KP's Upper Dir

An American woman who travelled to Pakistan to reunite with her online partner in Upper Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has embraced Islam and tied the knot in an intimate nikah ceremony.

After converting to Islam, 47-year-old Mindy adopted the name Zuleikha. She arrived in Dir from Illinois, Chicago, three days prior to her wedding to Sajid Zeb Khan, a resident of Upper Dir district.

According to Sajid, the two met on Facebook, where their online friendship gradually turned into romance. Zuleikha eventually proposed marriage, a proposal Sajid said he gladly accepted.

Speaking to local media, Zuleikha described Islam as a beautiful religion, expressing her happiness in embracing the faith and starting a new chapter of her life.

A video of Sajid warmly receiving Zuleikha at the airport, where she appeared excited, wearing a headscarf and holding a bouquet, went viral on social media, with many users offering their best wishes to the couple.

In a video shared after their nikah, Mindy expressed her joy, calling Sajid's family "amazing" and praising the peaceful environment.

 She urged people to disregard rumors and experience the land for themselves. Mindy also stated that she plans to return to the US to complete Sajid's paperwork, after which the couple will settle there
