A shocking theft incident has come to light in Karachi’s Defence area, where valuables worth Rs100 million disappeared from a private bank locker, according to police.

Police said a case has been registered against the bank’s branch manager, operations manager, and other staff members at Darakhshan police station.

The First Information Report (FIR) stated that a large-sized locker was rented in July 2009, and over the time, it was used to store gold jewelry, diamond sets, wristwatches and foreign currency worth Rs100 million.

On February 19, 2025, when the businessman’s wife opened the locker, she discovered that a metal box containing jewellery and wristwatches was missing.

After informing the operation manager and locker custodian, a search was conducted, and the empty metal box was found inside the same locker. Moreover, they also found empty jewellery pouches from the ceiling of the locker.

The woman alleged that when she returned to the bank two days later, it was revealed to her that the bank staff removed empty jewellery and watch boxes from the locker.

The woman expressed suspicion that the branch manager was involved in the robbery in conjunction with staff.
