Woman killed in exchange of fire between police, muggers in Karachi

Four police officers were arrested after a woman was reportedly killed in an exchange of fire between them and suspected muggers in New Karachi's Bilal Colony.

According to the police, two suspects riding a motorcycle were robbing a citizen in Bilal Colony, Sector 5-D, New Karachi, when the police officers, who were on routine patrol, reached the spot.

On seeing the cops, the suspects opened fire. One of the alleged muggers was injured in the retaliatory firing while his accomplice managed to escape from the spot.

A woman was killed after being caught in the exchange of fire between the personnel and robbers. The victim was identified as Hamida, who came to a nearby medical store with her husband.

Following the incident, four police officers who belonged to the Shaheen Force, and participated in the encounter, have been detained.

The detained officers are being interrogated regarding the incident. However, it is too early to determine whether the woman was killed by the firing of the robbers or the policemen.

Furthermore, the incident will be investigated to ascertain whose bullet caused the woman’s death.
